1. Our Commitment to Sustainable Tourism
Tourilla Tours is committed to delivering authentic travel experiences in Uganda while preserving the country’s unique ecosystems, cultures, and communities. We collaborate with local partners, eco-certified lodges, and conservation groups to ensure our operations contribute positively to people and the planet.

2. Sustainable Management
We integrate sustainability into our operations by:Assigning a sustainability coordinator: Wendelin Amtmann, Founding Partner Tourilla ToursProviding sustainability training for staff: train our local guides with sustainability presentations

Regularly monitoring and improving practices through internal reviews: We ask our clients to fill out a form at the end of the trip

3. Ethical Labor & Health and Safety
We ensure fair working conditions and inclusivity by:Employing Ugandan staff and guides with fair wages and contracts

Ensuring safe working conditions

Promoting diversity and non-discrimination via a yearly training with presentations. Especially promoting LGTBQ rights within our team

4. In our office 
Our internal practices aim to reduce our environmental footprint:Internal waste as at a minimum as we are a remote first team

We minimize plastic use

We respect our employees, their diversity and advance their wellbeing wherever we can

We are using digital documentation and avoid paperwork 

5. Partner & Supplier Policy
We select partners who align with our sustainability values (sourcing sustainable energy, pay fair wages to employees, use local building materials) :We prefer to work with locally owned businesses that reflect and celebrate local cultures — including hotels, lodges, restaurants, handicraft outlets, and arts and culture centers.

Lodges: ViaVia Lodge, Canopy Lodge Kibale, Buffalo Lodge Queen Elizabeth NP, Sipi River Lodge, Kidepo Savannah Lodge

Transport: Use car pooling if applicable

Food: Sourcing local and seasonal ingredients whenever possible

6. Transport and Carbon Neutral Options
We aim to minimize transport-related emissions by:Maintaining 4x4 vehicles for fuel efficiency

Offering group travel options

Recommending certified carbon offsetting partners (e.g. MyClimate, Carbon Footprint)

7. Excursions & Community Involvement
We collaborate with local communities to ensure positive impact:Working with community-run activities and guides

Offering visits to local initiatives, such as the Karamojong village

Supporting local development projects: Long term vision building a school in the village of our local founding partner


8. Wildlife & Biodiversity Protection
We follow strict ethical standards in wildlife experiences:All trekking under UWA regulations

No feeding, baiting, or disturbing animals

Educating guests about conservation during excursions

9. Guest Engagement & Awareness
We promote responsible travel behavior by:Providing pre-trip sustainability guidelines: All our clients get the itinerary incl. our sustainable guidelines

We are educating guests during welcome briefings

Collecting feedback on environmental practices and the trip in general
